Nu Haven Kapelye
April 5 @ 12:00 am
$20.00Join the Nu Haven Kapelye at the Charter Oak Cultural Center on April 16 for an evening of Jewish music and comedy. We will be kicking off and closing with klezmer performances, and in between our sets will be a tribute to the groundbreaking1940-50s Jewish sitcom “The Goldbergs”. The evening will be hosted by Alissa Wurtzel, CEO of Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven, and produced by Pierre Sylvain.
Delight in a visit to the Golden Age of television as presenter Leona Schwartz revisits the much-loved Molly Goldberg, a Jewish suburban housewife who was portrayed by Gertrude Berg on radio, television, Broadway, and film. The original radio and television shows were written by, directed by, and starred Mrs. Berg, a Tony Award-winner and the first-ever winner of the Emmy Award for Best Actress. Hear the personal story of Eli Mintz, who portrayed the lovable Uncle David. Leona, his real-life daughter, will present an insightful look at the decades-long adventures of “The Goldbergs”. An original TV episode will be screened, followed by an audience Q&A.
