On Friday, January 12, the Afro-Semitic Experience will be honoring the legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by sharing our music at Congregation Mishkan Israel’s annual MLK service. The service begins at 7:30 pm. For us it will be a bittersweet evening as it will be Rabbi Hebert Brockman’s last MLK service at Mishkan Israel before he retires. Rabbi Brockman has been a supporter of the Afro-Semitic Experience since the group’s very beginning. He was the person who invited the group to share its music at Mishkan Israel in 1998. That service was the beginning of a 20-year journey that is still a work in progress. Band leader David Chevan hopes that you can join them as they celebrate Dr. King and Rabbi Brockman with their special sermon in song. Congregation Mishkan Israel is located at 785 Ridge Road, in Hamden, CT.
