“BEBOP FOR ES“ — DEDICATED TO THE LOVING MEMORY OF ESDRAS LUBIN — THE MARK KAPLAN JAZZ QUINTET AT NEXT DOOR THIS THURSDAY!
In loving remembrance of Esdras Lubin, The Mark Kaplan Jazz Quintet is dedicating our performance at Next Door to “Es” — this Thursday, November 16th, 175 Humphrey Street, New Haven, from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The above photo is of a gig I played with Es (background) at Best Video back in January — I can’t tell you what it meant to be his bandmate and friend! I’ll be joined by guest artists Ralph Rosen on chromatic harmonica, and Gary Grippo on guitar. Holding down the fort will be the great rhythm section of Adam Anderson, bass, and John Rispoli, drums. This will be a bittersweet event, as so many of us are grieving the loss of a giant of a man — a great friend, beautiful soul and superb musician. Sure hope to see y’all!
