November 8, 2019. NEW HAVEN’S OWN. Our city has often been home, or the starting point, or an important way station for jazz musicians, and it remains a vibrant center of the music. And its a huge variety from Artie Shaw to Leo Smith and including alto saxophonists Charles McPherson and Dickey Meyers,, pianist-composers Anthony Davis and Bill Apollo Brown, bassists Mario Pavone and Jeff Fuller as well as this year’s JazzHaven “Unsung Hero”, Jesse Hameen. Not all have been recorded, but some did and we’ll play a bunch of them.
